Affiliate Program

Program terms

These are the terms of the Make the Leap affiliate program. They are written in plain language on purpose - you should be able to read them in a few minutes and know exactly what you earn, when you get paid, and what would get you removed. Version 2026-09-22.

1. What this is

If we approve your application, we give you a tracked link. When someone clicks it and later buys one of our paid products, you earn a commission. You are an independent promoter, not an employee, agent, partner or representative of Make the Leap, and nothing here creates any of those relationships.

2. Commission: 30% of a first purchase

You earn 30% of the amount actually paid - before tax and before payment-processing fees - on a referred customer's first paid purchase.

The same rate applies across all of our paid products: Career, Money, Belief, Freedom.

What counts:

  • The purchase is made by a new customer - someone who has not bought from us before.
  • It is their first paid purchase of a Career, Money, Belief or Freedom product.
  • It happens within 60 days of them clicking your link.
  • The payment clears and is not refunded or disputed.

What does not count:

  • Later purchases by the same customer, after their first one.
  • Subscription renewals. A subscription's first payment can count as a first purchase; every renewal after that does not.
  • Anyone who had already bought from us before clicking your link.
  • Free results, free downloads, and anything else nobody paid for.

3. The referral window: 60 days

When someone clicks your link we store a referral cookie in their browser for 60 days. If they buy within that window, the sale is credited to you.

The cookie is a random code. It does not contain your name, your email, or anything about the person who clicked.

Referrals are credited last click: if someone clicks two affiliates' links, the most recent click before the purchase gets the commission. Cookies can be cleared, blocked or lost - by the browser, by private mode, by buying on a different device - and when that happens the referral cannot be credited. We cannot recover a referral that was never recorded.

4. Refunds and chargebacks reverse the commission

If a purchase is refunded, charged back, or reversed for any reason, the commission on it is reversed too. If we have not paid it yet, it is removed from your balance. If we have already paid it, we deduct it from your next payout.

This is why commissions are held before they become payable - see the next section. It is also why we would rather hold a commission a few weeks than ask for one back.

5. Hold period and the $50 threshold

A commission is held for 30 days after the sale, to cover the refund window. After that it becomes payable.

We pay out when your payable balance reaches $50. Below that it rolls forward to the following month until it gets there. If you leave the program with a payable balance over the threshold, we will still pay it.

6. How we pay

We pay by PayPal, monthly, net 30: commissions that became payable during a calendar month are sent within 30 days of the end of that month.

You will need to give us a PayPal address before your first payout - you do not need one to apply. You are responsible for your own taxes on what you earn, and for giving us any tax information we are required to collect. We may hold a payout until we have it. We do not cover PayPal's fees or currency conversion.

7. What is not allowed

Any of the following is a violation of these terms. Some of them are here because they cost us money; the last few are here because they cost us trust, which is worse.

  1. 7.1 Paid search on our brand terms

Do not bid on “Make the Leap”, “maketheleap”, our product names, or close variants and common misspellings of any of them, on Google, Bing, or any other paid-search or paid-social keyword platform. Do not run ads to a display URL that looks like ours, and do not use our name in ad copy in a way that suggests the ad is from us.

  2. 7.2 Coupon, deal and cashback placements

No coupon sites, deal aggregators, cashback or loyalty-rebate sites, browser extensions that inject a referral on checkout, or any placement whose value to the customer is a discount rather than your recommendation. We do not issue affiliate coupon codes.

  3. 7.3 Self-referral

You cannot earn commission on your own purchase, a purchase by a member of your household, or a purchase you arrange on someone's behalf to collect the commission.

  4. 7.4 Incentivised or paid-to-click traffic

No paying, rewarding or otherwise incentivising anyone to click your link or take the assessment. No paid-to-click networks, reward walls, click farms, or bot traffic.

  5. 7.5 Spam

No unsolicited email, DMs, SMS, comment spam, or posts into communities that have not permitted promotional links. If you email your list, it must be a list that opted in to hear from you.

  6. 7.6 Cookie stuffing

No setting the referral cookie without a deliberate click - no iframes, no auto-redirects, no pop-unders, no forced clicks, no scripts that fire the link on page load.

  7. 7.7 Misleading claims

Do not describe the assessment as something it is not: not a job guarantee, not a hiring service, not a credential, not medical, legal or financial advice. Do not imply we endorse you, employ you, or that you are speaking for us.

  8. 7.8 Impersonation

Do not present yourself as Make the Leap, as our staff, or as the source of someone's results. Do not register domains, handles, or profiles that a reasonable person would read as ours.

  9. 7.9 Any claim about the assessment or its results that we do not make ourselves

This one matters more to us than the rest of this list. Everything we publish is built on numbers we can check against our own data. So: do not invent or estimate outcome statistics, success rates, accuracy or validity figures, salary or income results, user or customer counts, completion times, endorsements, credentials, or scientific validation. If a figure is not stated on a Make the Leap page, do not state it on yours. If you want to cite a number, take it from our site or ask us and we will tell you what we can support. Repeating a claim you saw somewhere else does not make it ours.

  10. 7.10 Auto-generated and scraped content

Your promotion must sit on content you made. No scraped pages, no bulk auto-generated pages, no doorway sites built to catch search traffic and pass it through.

8. You must disclose the relationship

Wherever you use your link - a page, a video, a podcast, an email, a social post, a story - you must make it clear that you earn a commission if someone buys. Put it close to the link, before it where you can, in plain words a reader will understand: “I earn a commission if you buy through this link.”

This is what the US FTC endorsement guidelines require, and the equivalent rules apply in most other countries. Burying it in a footer, hiding it behind a link, or relying on the word “affiliate” alone is not enough. You are responsible for complying with the advertising and disclosure rules that apply where your audience is.

9. We can decline or end a partnership

We review applications individually and may decline any of them, for any reason, without explaining why. Approval is not a guarantee of any level of earnings.

Either of us can end the arrangement at any time. If you leave, or we end it for an ordinary reason - inactivity, a change to the program, a decision on our side - we still pay commissions that have already become payable, subject to the threshold in section 5.

If we end it because of a violation of section 7 or section 8, pending and unpaid commissions are forfeited, and we may reverse commissions already paid on traffic connected to the violation.

10. Using our name and materials

While you are an active affiliate you may use our name, logo, screenshots and the copy we give you to promote us, as they are. You may not alter the logo, register our name in a domain, handle, app or business name, or use it in a way that suggests we run or endorse your site. We can ask you to stop using any specific material, and you should stop using all of it when the arrangement ends.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is material - the commission rate, the referral window, the payout threshold, or what is prohibited - we will email active affiliates at least 30 days before it takes effect, and the version number at the top of this page will change. Commissions already earned are settled under the terms in force when they were earned. Carrying on promoting us after a change takes effect means you accept it.

12. The boring but necessary part

The program is provided as is. We are not liable for lost or uncredited referrals, for lost profits, or for indirect or consequential losses. Our total liability to you for anything connected to this program is limited to the commissions payable to you in the three months before the claim.

You are responsible for what you publish, and for keeping us out of trouble caused by it. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, and any dispute goes to the courts there. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.

Questions about any of this before you apply? Email hello@maketheleap.co. Otherwise, head back to the program page to apply.
